vaidya Upendra Dixit

Dr. Upendra is a well known expert in the field of Ayurveda. An authority, in the academic field, as well as a renowned physician. He is well known for treating acute and critical conditions along with chronic illnesses. He also treated more than 120 critical patients in various ICUs with purely Ayurvedic treatment.

Education

• After acquiring the degree of BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic medicine and surgery) from the reputed Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Pune, Maharashtra, he got selected through national entrance examination to the prestigious Institute for postgraduate teaching and research in Ayurveda, under Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar.
• He acquired the degree of M.D. in the basic principles of Ayurveda in 1995.
• He pursued higher studies and in 1999, the doctorate degree i.e. Ph.D. was conferred to him by the university of Pune.
• For better understanding of Ayurveda, he also acquired degree of M.A. in Sanskrit.
• He received guidance by stalwarts in the field of Ayurveda like Vaidyachoodamani M.V.Kolhatkar, Vaidya B.P.Nanal, the Brihat Trayi Ratna award winner Vaidya A.V.Datar, Vaidya V.D.Gautam, Vaidya P.V.Kulkarni, Vaidya D.P.Gadgil, Prof.M.S.Shastry, Prof.R.R.Dwivedi, Vaidya Ajit Joshi etc.

• Apart from teaching in college, encouraged and guided many students to practice Ayurveda. Regularly conducting lectures to improve their clinical knowledge.

Awards and honours

• National level Hari Om Gold Medal for Best Research in Basic Principles, awarded by Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar
• Received Karyabhushan award from Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Pune. This is given for one of the past students having outstanding work in clinical, academic, social fields, for more than 20 years.
• Received Dhanvantari Award sponsored by Sandu pharmaceuticals for contribution in the field of Ayurveda at the hands of union Ayush minister Hon. Shreepad Naik, on 9th November, 2015.
• Received best outgoing student award from Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Pune.
• Honoured at the hands of then Chief Minister of Goa Mr. Manohar Parrikar for social activities in 2002.

• Invited as guest speaker and expert at 5 international seminars and 16 national seminars, including world Ayurveda Congress. Also in many state level and regional seminars.
• Was invited as an expert in various national level reorientation and training program for Ayurvedic teachers, organized by the central council of Indian medicine, government of India.
• Was invited as guest speaker in a national workshop for professors of pharmacology, organized by Indian council of medical research.
• Was also invited as a guest speaker at the National seminar on sciences in ancient India.
• Delivered many public lectures (more than 40) to increase awareness about Ayurveda. Including on All India radio and Doordarshan.
